Summer is finally here! It seems like we had to wait forever just to get some heat, but the plants are definitely showing how much they love the sun.
Remember that with all of this heat, your garden will need water. If you see a garden that looks dry and you have the time - don't feel shy to help someone out. It only takes a few days of neglect in this heat to have some major damage.
If you're going away, please post a message, or contact Jay Kennard (jaykennard@gmail.com or 306-717-0952). There are enough gardeners to help out when needed.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our Work Bee on Thursday. The garden is looking great! Connie will be picking up some more cardboard, as there are a few more spots left to fill. Some of the older paths will also need some new mulch. If we run out, we will get some more, but right now it is close.
There is a Steering Committee Meeting on Thursday, June 20 at 7:00pm. This will be help in the Richmond Room at Luther Heights (1802 Alexandra Avenue). Work Bee - Thursday
We will be holding a Work Bee on Thursday, June 6 at 6pm to work on weeding and mulching.
Please bring:
Please bring:
- pieces of cardboard to line trails/paths
- Knives to cut cardboard
- Wheelbarrows/pails/wagons for moving mulch
- Tools for shoveling and raking mulch
- Tools for removing weeds
We plan on digging up as many weeds as possible, and covering those on paths with cardboard. We will then cover everything with 3-4" of mulch. We are hoping that we can get a handle on some of the worst weeds in the garden so we can all focus on growing! Can't wait to see everyone there!!

Sunday, June 2
I almost forgot to thank PH Trucking for the free topsoil - both this year AND last. I think it cost Alex a coffee! We are very grateful to all of our garden supports, and PH Trucking will be added to our support page. If you need any top soil or fill please support PH Trucking.
P.S. - Don't forget to do some mulching! Lay down some cardboard and put 3-4" of mulch on top. We'd like to get on top of the weeds early and make our garden look tip top!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. - Jay
